ERNEST MARTINO DIED ON SUNDAY

Veteran of First World War Lived Most of Life in Madison County

Ernest L. Martino of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison county died Sunday, Jan. 20 at Veteran's hospital in Des Moines. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Martino was born in Madison county Sept. 1, 1888, a son of Fred and Sarah Martino. He engaged in farming near Winterset most of his life.

During World War I he served overseas in France nine months with Co. I, 110th Infantry regiment of the American Expeditionary force. He was a member of Green-Rogers post of the American Legion in Winterset.

He was married Jan. 22, 1910 to Amanda Moore, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 20, 1959, he was married to Mary Snelson who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a step-son, Gene Snelson of Winterset; two step-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Bert Smith of Waterloo, Mrs. Frank Gramm of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Gertrude Friedl of Waterloo and Mrs. Marie Eubanks of Pueblo, Colo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. R. L. Lehmann, pastor of the St. Paul Lutheran church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military ritual at the graveside by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
