Gene L. Wilson, Winterset

Funeral services for Gene L. Wilson, 64, were held Sat., April 27 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Suzanne Peterson and the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Mr. Wilson died April 23 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville.

A Madison County resident for most of his life, Gene Lenocker Wilson was born August 23, 1926 in Winterset to Wyman and Mildred (Lenocker) Wilson. He was a retired mail carrier, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, American Legion in Winterset, V.F.W. in Winterset, Southwest chapter of Mensa, and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He had lived the last four and a half years in Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his father, an infant daughter and a brother.

Survivors include his mother of Winterset; four sons, James Wyman Wilson of Berlin, Germany; Jeremiah Morgan Wilson of Lompoc, Calif.; Thomas Gene Wilson of Springfield, Mo., and David Michael Wilson of Ft. Ord, Calif; two brothers, Jerry M. Wilson of Winterset and Charles Wilson of Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Marsha Wilson of Rockville, Md.; and eight grandchildren.

Military graveside services were held at Winterset Cemetery by V.F.W. Post 8142. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church.
