VERNITA GAIL HAINES, Winterset

Vernita Gail Haines, 60, of Winterset, died of a heart attack Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating. Burial followed at Winterset Cemetery.

Vernita was born in Madison County on Dec. 25, 1937, to Otto Lavell and Lois Grace (Wood) Hendricks. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1958. She married Donald Wayne Haines Nov. 15, 1958, at Omaha, Nebraska. She was a daycare provider and homemaker most of her life. She also was a member of the Good Sams Camping Club, Iowa Star Camping Club and the First United Methodist Church of Winterset.

Survivors include her husband Donald Haines of Winterset; two sons, Michael Wayne Haines and wife Cindy of Des Moines and Scott Lavell Haines of Des Moines; two daughters, Rogena Dawn Fox and husband Gary of Valley, Neb., and Angela Grace Low and husband Ken of Stuart; one sister, Sara Jean Aldrich of Waukee; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
