Russell Anderson, Atlantic

Otto Russell Anderson, 85, of Atlantic died of complications of cancer Oct. 6, 2002, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday Oct 10, at the Peru United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Shepherd officiating. Eulogist will be Scott Emerson. Burial of the cremains will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Walnut Township, Madison County. No visitation time is scheduled.

Russell Anderson was born April 15, 1917, to Charles Edison and Martha (Webert) Anderson of Peru. On Dec. 22, 1956, he married Glee Brown in Winterset. A retired farmer and mechanic, Russell had been a lifetime resident of Madison County. He and his wife had just recently moved to Atlantic. He was a member of the Zion Federated Church in Madison County.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Glee, of Atlantic; a daughter, Laurel Butler (husband J. B.) of Atlantic; a sister, Marge Lathrum of Winterset; two sisters-in-law, June Weeks of Winterset and Hazel Reed of Russell; a brother-in-law, Mark Brown (wife Sandy) of Macksburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
