MRS. BERT BLACK DIED LAST FRIDAY

Mrs. Bert Black died at her home near Winterset last Friday, Jan. 2, at the age of 59 years.

Mrs. Black was the former Hazel Fern Young, daughter of Alfred and Nannie Young, and was born in Madison county on Nov. 30, 1893. Her early life was spent in this community. She was married to Bert Black of Allen Nebr., on Feb. 25, 1916. They located on a farm near Allen, where they lived for 26 years, after which they returned with their son, Robert, to a farm near Winterset, where the remainder of her life was spent.

As a young girl she united with the Webster Methodist church here later transferring to the Evanglical Lutheran church at Allen.

She is survived by her husband; the son, Robert Black of Shenandoah; her mother, Mrs. Nannie Young; two sisters, Mrs. George Sawyer of Winterset, and Mrs. Jerrie Moore of Macksburg; and three grandsons.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Richards Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. R. D. Thomas and the Reb. Don Cuttler. Burial was made in the Wight cemetery.
