MARGUERITE S. KING, Winterset

Marguerite Steele King, 85, died from a respiratory ailment June 29, 1998, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 3, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with the Rev. Dr. Mary Pop officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Marguerite King was born March 16, 1913, in Ringgold County to Raymer and Emma (Girard) Steele. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI) and taught school for two years in the Winterset School System. Marguerite, a homemaker, had resided in Winterset since 1931. She married Lloyd Thomas King on June 2, 1933, in Nashua. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Progressive Study Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by one son, Dr. Lloyd Thomas King of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann King-Kerber (husband John Kerber) of Johnston; two sisters, Maybelle Thompson of Des Moines and Marie Swanson of Nevada; and six grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
