The Winterset Madisonian
Winterset, Iowa
Thursday, December 18, 1904

Etha Vesta Orr was born October 29th, 1891, in Wayne county, Iowa, and came to Winterset to reside with her grandparents when she was about three years old, where she continued to reside until last spring, moving with them to their present home.

She died December 8th, after a short illness. Though suffering intensely throughout her brief sickness, she bore it with great fortitude, never complaining. Almost from the first she expressed herself that she thought she would not recover. Etha was of a very bright and happy disposition and seemed much older in thought than her years would indicate. At the early age of eight years she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church at Winterset.

Her father, H. W. Orr, being in Wichita, Kansas, at the time of her death did not arrive here until late the evening of the 10th. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Matheny, "Who hath abolished death and brought life and immortality to light." 2nd Tim. 1-10.
