Funeral services for George A. Farlow, well-known Winterset resident, were held Monday afternoon from Collins Funeral Home here.
Mr. Farlow died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 1963, at Madison County Memorial hospital. He was 49 years of age.
A life-long resident of Madison county, he had engaged in the restaurant business in Winterset for 22 years. At the time of his death, he operated Farlow's Cafe, just off the southeast corner of the square.
He also formerly served as Burlington bus depot agent, and as Register and Tribune agency manager for this community.
The son of Earl and Mae Barnett Farlow he was born at Winterset on Dec. 1, 1913. He was married to Adina Contri on June 6, 1936 at Bethany, Missouri.
He was a member of I.O.O.F., Madison Lodge No. 136, and of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset.
He is survived by his wife, one son, David, a student at State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls; his mother, Mrs. Mae Farlow of Denver, Colorado; one grandchild; two brothers, Myers of California and Carl of Tacoma, Washington; four sisters, Ruth Condon of California, Iva Gallan of Denver, Mary Phillips of Truro, and Pauline Brooks of Onekema, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by a son, George Albert Farlow, Jr. and by his father.
Officiating at the service Monday was the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
