Lester L. Marquardt, 79, of rural Van Meter, died of heart disease Oct. 26, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 29, at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Booneville Cemetery.
Lester Marquardt was born Sept. 8, 1926, to Carl and Doris (Stump) Marquardt of rural Van Meter. He was a 1945 graduate of Van Meter Community School. On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Mary Lou Spencer at the United Methodist Church in Waukee. Lester, a lifelong farmer, also was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of rural Van Meter; one daughter, Rita Huntrods of rural Van Meter; two brothers, Gordon Marquardt of Adel and Otis Marquardt of Texas; and two granddaughters.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund which has been established in his name.
