Bill Baker, a native of Madison county, died Sunday, April 23, 1972, at Waterloo, at the age of 44 years.
Mr. Baker was a son of Ralph and Velma Baker, and was born here March 27, 1928. He attended the Winterset schools but completed his senior high school year and graduated in Des Moines.
He served in the U.S. Marine corps, and after his discharge lived at Corpus Christi, Tex.
He was married to Carol Lee Haines, and they made their home in Winterset for a short time. He was employed by the Rock Island railway here, and was sent from here to Washington, Ia. He later served as station agent at Waterloo and LaPorte City.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carol Baker of Waterloo; three sons, Michael of Chicago, and John and Mark at home; four daughters, Debra, Patricia, Barbara and Carol, all at home; two brothers, John Baker of Winterset and Ralph Baker of Indianola; and his mother, Mrs. Velma Baker of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25, from Johannsen-Rossow Funeral home in LaPorte City, with burial in Westview cemetery there.
