DOYLE JOHNSON, Truro

Doyle Dorrell Johnson, 85, of Truro died May 17, 2003, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.

Doyle Johnson was born Dec. 3, 1917, to Ralph and Veda (Garrison) Johnson of rural New Viginia. He was educated in the Truro School District, graduating from Truro High School in 1936. On June 20, 1940, he was united in marriage to Doris Pauline Frank in Truro. Doyle, who was retired, had been a salesman of farm implements and grain handling equipment. He also was a pig farmer for a number of years. He had resided in Winona, Miss., for 10 years, returning to Iowa in 1980. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Truro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob Johnson and Roland Johnson; and a sister, Edith Mease.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Truro, a son, Frank Johnson of Schaumburg, Ill.; three daughters, Jacquelyn Sutphin of Van Wert, Debra Hardin of Winona, Miss., and Lisa Jones of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Kenneth Johnson of Des Moines and Herbert Johnson of St. Mary, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
