Robert E. Linville, a Winterset business man for 21 years, died Monday, March 30, 1959, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 59 years of age. He was stricken suddenly, Monday evening, at his motel, and died shortly after reaching the hospital
Mr. Linville was a native of Sandyhook, Ky., where he was born March 7, 1900, a son of Milford and Nancy Dehart Linville. His father died many years ago.
He came to Winterset about 1939 to open a jewelry store on the west side of the square, later moving to the location on West Jefferson street. About 10 years ago he built the Linville Motel on North First street, and had continued to operate that business.
Mr. Linville was known throughout Iowa as a collector of antique automobiles, and had one of the finest collections of automobile license plates in the nation. He was an officer of the Iowa Antique Motor club, and maintained an antique car museum in Winterset.
He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Green-Rogers post of the American Legion in Winterset. His church affiliation was Baptist.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nancy Goode of Winterset; and two step-sisters, Pyrle E. Stevens of Des Moines, and Mrs. Marie Marshall of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday, at 2 p.m. from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Robert Damon, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery, with military honors by the American Legion.
