Thursday, August 6, 1903Mrs. Thos. Roy, of Lincoln township, died at her home Monday evening. The funeral occurred at the home at 11 o'clock Wednesday and the remains were interred in the Hooten cemetery.
Mrs. Roy was an old settler of Madison county and a lady much esteemed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Thos. Roy, of Lincoln township died the early part of the week. The funeral was held yesterday, burial in the Hooten cemetery. The Roys were very early settlers in this county.

Priscilla Free was born in North Carolina, May 20, 1825. She with her parents moved to Indiana when a little girl. She was married to Thomas Roy April 6, 1843, who still survives. In 1856 they moved to Madison county, where they have lived ever since.
To them were born nine children, five of whom are still living. The two oldest children, Elizabeth and Thomas, are now living in Washington; Douglas, the youngest, is living in Missouri, While David and John are living in Madison county. Besides leaving her aged husband and five children, she leaves two brothers and two sisters.
She died August 4, 1903, aged 78 years, 2 months, and 16 days. Mother Roy joined the Baptist church soon after her marriage. She lived and died in that faith.
Her funeral was preached by Elder F. M. Jordan, of like faith, after which her body was laid to await the Resurrection morn, at the Hooten cemetery.
