JACK JACKSON, Winterset

Jack Jay Jackson, 79, of Winterset, died from complications of a stroke July 9, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Don Frank officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Jack Jackson was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Madison County to Joseph Thomas and Letha (Addy) Jackson. He was a 1942 graduate of Winterset High School. On Dec. 23, 1945, he married Helen M. Howell at the Patterson United Methodist Church. Jack was a lifetime Madison County resident and farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Winterset Art Center, where he had served on the board of directors for 20 years. He also was one of the first pilots to obtain a seaplane rating in the state of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Winterset; one son, Vince Jackson of Winterset; one daughter, Julie Medic of Greensburg, Pa.; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
