Well Known Union Township Farmer Dies after
three days illness from Heart FailureTheodore Cox better known as "Dora" Cox died at his farm residence in Union Township at 3 p.m. last Friday after three days illness from heart trouble. His illness did not assume a serious nature until a short time before his death and up to that time he was able to be up and about his place.
Mr. Cox was unmarried and managed his 160 acre farm by the aid of hired help.
His remains were brought here and the burial held on Sunday afternoon from the home of his sister, Mrs. Hattie Zeller. In the absence of the family pastor, Rev. R. R. Marquis of the Presbyterian church conducted the burial services.
The deceased was born on the old Cox homestead one mile east of Winterset, July 2, 1860 and was a little past 45 years old at the time of his death.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Walter of Washington, Geo. Cox, of Des Moines, Mrs. Margaret Jones and Mrs. Hattie Zeller of Winterset.
He was a man of rough exterior but kind heart and possessed many warm friends to whom the news of his death will be heard with deepest regret.

Theodore Cox, one of the most widely known farmers and feeders of the county died at his farm last Friday afternoon very suddenly. The cause of his death was fatty degeneration of the heart, he was a very large man and excessively fleshy. He died within half an hour after being stricken. He was forty-five years of age and a bachelor. On his farm are two houses, his tenant occupied one and himself the other, he died at the home of the tenant.
The remains were brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. E. R. Zeller, in this city and the funeral occurred from there Sunday afternoon and was very largely attended.
Mr. Cox was one of the most successful cattle feeders in the county, a good neighbor and a man with many friends.
