Winterset Madisonian - October 1903

Bertha Edith Pratt, daughter of William and Syntha Pratt, departed this life on Sept. 30th, 1903, at the age of one year, 10 months and 24 days.

Funeral was held at the house on Oct. 1st at one o'clock, preached by Rev. N. D. Gordon.

Sleep on little one, in thy lonely prison tomb; while on earth we miss thee, yet we know that though while the lamp of life has gone out and mortality is mouldering back to mother earth and though dead to us, thous shall yet speak and bring many straying wandering souls to Jesus. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, yea saith the Spirit, they rest from their labors and their works do follow them.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled,
The boon His love had given;
And though the body slumbers now,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
