Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 2, at 5 p.m. from the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset for Flossie Lucinda Boyce, 83, who died Friday, Sept. 1, 1978, at Care Center North in Winterset where she was a resident.
She was born in Madison County on Sept. 7, 1894, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Dean Poindexter. Her marriage to Joseph Boyce took place March 15, 1916, in Douglas township of this county. Her husband died April 7, 1968.
The couple lived for many years in Whittier, Calif. before returning to Madison County after his retirement.
Survivors include a son, Walter J. of Houston, Texas, a daughter, Mary Lou Agan of Huntsville, Texas and a brother Neil Poindexter of Des Moines. Also six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Boyce was preceded in death by her husband and parents, a son, Earl, and an infant son, one brother, two step-brothers and a sister.
Officiating at Saturday's services was Rev. Alan Parker of Winterset. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
