PEGGY TAYLOR, Norwalk

Peggy Taylor, 90, died July 1, 2001, from complications of a stroke at Regency Care Center in Norwalk.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Peggy Taylor was born May 27, 1911, in Joplin, Mo., to Walter and Rosalind (Johnston) George. She married Lee Taylor on Aug. 1, 1942, in Joplin. She had worked as a waitress at the Aldo Cafe. Peggy also had taught senior citizen classes for over 25 years and served Meals on Wheels for five years. A resident of Winterset since 1947, she moved to the Regency Care Center in Norwalk in 1994. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother.

She is survived by a son, Robert Taylor (wife Susan Wehinger) of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Patricia Christowski (husband Henry) of Norwalk and Catherine Spicocchi (husband Kenneth) of Santa Fe, N.M.; three sisters-in-law, Bessie Sinn of Story City, Flossie Cummings of Iowa Falls and Lenore George of Joplin, Mo.; six grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
