LEE TAYLOR Services Thursday

Verne Leon (Lee) Taylor, 53, a lifelong resident of Madison County and well-known member of the Winterset community, died Monday, September 10, 1973, in Winterset.

Mr. Taylor was born April 16, 1920 in Madison County, the son of Verne F. and Maggie Andrews Taylor. He was married August 1, 1942 to Peggy George in Joplin, Missouri.

Mr. Taylor's residence in Winterset was interrupted by military service during the Second World War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and was employed as a truck driver for the Brown Line at the time of his death.

Surviving Mr. Taylor is his wife, Peggy Taylor of Winterset; a son, Dr. Robert L. Taylor, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Waltz, Des Moines and Mrs. Cay Wigg, Los Alamos, New Mexico; and three grandchildren.

Also surviving is a brother, Wesley Taylor of Osceola; and three sisters, Mrs. Irma Ford, Winterset, Mrs. Bessie Sinn, Story City, and Fossie Cummings, Iowa Falls.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 13, at 1:30 p.m. from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with military graveside services observed by VFW Post 8142 at the Winterset Cemetery.
