C. F. "BING" ROSS Died On Saturday

One of Winterset's leading citizens for more than a score of years, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 10, 1966, when C. F. (Bing) Ross was stricken with a fatal heart attack at his home in Winterset. His death occurred after he had been taken to the Memorial hospital for treatment.

Mr. Ross had operated the United Food store in Winterset for 21 years, and during all that time was active in the affairs of the community. He was a trustee of the First United Presbyterian church here since 1950, and at the time of his death was chairman of the board of trustees. He was active in the Winterset Chamber of Commerce, serving as a director and holding other offices. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

Mr. Ross was 57 years of age at his death. He was a native of Doon, Ia., where he was born May 6, 1909, a son of Cornelius and Maria Rudloff Ross. He was married at Des Moines on Sept. 18, 1934 to Alice Johnson who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Craig A. Ross of Webster City; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Sue Rhoads of Winterset; two grandchildren, Natalie Sue and Andy Ross; five brothers, Cornelius Ross of Evanston, Ill., Henry Ross of Fremont, Nebr., Arnold Ross of Cedar Rapids, August G. Ross of Seattle, Wash., and Homer Ross of Waterloo; and five sisters, Mrs. Howard Reynolds of Akron, O., Mrs. Betty Sapaugh of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Lillian Kirby of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Robert Brockoff of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Mrs. James Flaugher of Cedar Falls.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset with the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
