Milton Pearson Dies At 75 Years

Milton Leroy Pearson, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died Thursday, Nov. 12 at Memorial hospital in Winterset, following a short illness. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Pearson was a son of Samuel H. and Emily Jane Cecil Pearson, and was born near Macksburg, July 14, 1884. On June 10, 1925, he was married to Millie Patterson Cox, who preceded him in death in 1956.

His life was spent farming in Madison and Adair counties.

He had been a member of the Early Chapel church since boyhood. He was affiliated with the Earlham Odd Fellows and Rebekahs.

Surviving are three daughters, Berniece Phearman of Winterset, Hazel Little of Chicago, and Gladys Parkinson of Earlham; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three sisters, Susie Smith of Earlham, Rosa Smith of Redfield, and Doris Marsh of Dexter.

Funeral Services Saturday for Milton Roy Pearson

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, November 14 from the Penn Center Methodist Church for Milton LeRoy Pearson who passed away at the Winterset Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 12. Mr. Pearson, the brother of Mrs. Lawrence Marsh of this city, had made his home in the Penn Center neighborhood for many years. He had spent his entire life on farms in Madison and Adair counties.

Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife, Millie and his children: Mrs. Carl (Berniece) Phearman of Winterset; Mrs. John (Hazel) Little of Chicago; and Mrs. Willard (Gladys) Parkison of Earlham. Also three sisters: Mrs. Marsh, Rosie Smith of Redfield and Susie Smith of Earlham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Henry and Emily Jane Cecil Pearson, two brothers, Leonard Linn and James William, also two sisters, Druzilla Belle Lovell and Laura Grace Poerink. One brother and one sister died in infancy.

The last rites were in charge of the Rev. Robert Williams, Methodist pastor. Music was furnished by a men’s quartet composed of Lloyd Clague, Ralph Clague, Russell Leeper and Sumner Mapes, Jr. The accompanist was Mrs. Clara Mapes.

Casket bearers were Lloyd Smith, Cecil Smith, Thayne Smith, Donald Kalbach, Kenneth Kalbach, and Eugene Lillie.

The interment was in the Penn Center cemetery.

Services Held For Roy Pearson

Funeral services were held for Roy Pearson at the Penn Center church, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 14 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Williams was in charge.

Music was by Lloyd Clague, Ralph Clague, Russell Leeper, and Sumner Mapes, Jr. Pianist was Mrs. Clara Mapes.

Casket bearers were: Lloyd Smith, Cecil Smith, Thaine Smith, Donald Kalbach, Kenneth Kalbach and Eugene Lillie. Burial was in the Penn Center cemetery.

Milton Le Roy Pearson, third child of Samuel Henry Pearson and Emily Jane Pearson, was born near Macksburg, Madison county, Iowa, July 14, 1884.

After a short illness he passed away November 12, 1959 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital at Winterset, Iowa at the age of 75 years, three months and 29 days.

He lived in Madison county most of his life where he attended school at Jackson No. 1.

On June 10, 1925 he was married to Millie Patterson Cox, who preceded him in death in September of 1956. There were 10 children in the family—five preceded him in death—two in infancy and also Leonard Linn, James W., Druzilla Belle Lovell, and Grace Poerink.

He leaves three daughters: Berniece Phearman of Winterset, Hazel Little of Chicago, and Gladys Parkison of Earlham; also seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Susie Smith of Earlham, Rosa Smith of Redfield, and Doris Marsh of Dexter. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Pearson was a member of the Early Chapel church since boyhood, also an honorary member of the Earlham Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs.

He farmed all his life in Madison and Adair counties.

He was a loving father and a good neighbor, always willing to lend a helping hand.
