Wm. H. Allgeyer, known to his old friends here as “Ham” or “Foxy”, one of the large Allgeyer family died at his home in Boulder, Colorado of stomach trouble after a lingering illness of six weeks.
Ham Allgeyer grew up on the old Allgeyer farm west of the city. He was born in Mercer County, Illinois in 1857 and came here in 1867 when his father broke out the old farm. He got the schooling of an average country boy of that time. He greatly enjoyed the game of baseball and with his five brothers kept up a team near West Star Church many years.
He went to Boulder in 1880 and has resided there ever since. Joe Allgeyer has been with him for several months.
The body was brought back to his old home at Winterset and on Sunday, October 29, the funeral was held at the old home conducted by Father Troy, after which the remained were laid to rest beside his parents in Strington (sic) cemetery.
He leaves a wife, two sisters, six brothers and a large circle of sorrowing friends to mourn his loss.
