Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 27, at Collins Funeral Home for Velma Frey Baker, a lifetime Winterset resident who died Feb. 25, 1982 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was 81 years old.
Born in Lorimor on May 30, 1900, she was the daughter of Otto and Stella McCauley Frey.
On Nov. 24, 1920 she married Ralph Floyd Baker in Des Moines. Mr. Baker died in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Bill and Ralph, Jr.; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include a son, John of Winterset; two brothers, Fred Frey of Creston and Merlyn Frey of Earlham; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth Waugh and Mary Clarkson of Winterset, Eva Frey of Creston and Mrs. Bessie James of Davenport; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pastor Peter Quiring conducted the service. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
