1981Jess Rhodes Dies At Home
Jess Albert Rhodes died Tuesday, Feb. 24, at his home in Winterset. He was 74 years old.
Mr. Rhodes was born in Winterset on January 8, 1907. He was the son of William C. Rhodes and Mary Elizabeth Hutton.
On Sept. 4, 1937, he married Mary J. Hermon in Papillion, Nebraska.
He was an electrician, retiring in 1960. He was a member of the Omaho Electrical Union Local 767.
Other memberships included the Winterset Evening Star Lodge No. 43 A.F. and A.M; Des Moines Research Lodge No. 2, and the Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife Mary; one brother, William W. Rhodes of Santa Anna, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Hattie Strong of Winterset.
Funeral services were conducted Friday Feb. 27 at the First Christian Church, Rev. David Livingston officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery and included a Masonic graveside service.
