Today occurred the death of our esteemed townsman, Uncle William Hogg, who closed his eyes to the scenes of this world late this afternoon. He has been an invalid the past year, and for the past eight weeks has been a great sufferer in last stages of that dread disease, dropsy.
He was a kindly old man who believed in exactly right and honest dealings between man and man, and love his neighbor as himself. He was a pioneer in these parts and through his industry and frugality accumulated large property interests. He reared his family here, a part of whom are dead, but in his death he leaves a wife and several sons and daughters, and a sister living here who were with him to comfort him in his last days. – Peru Mail.
