February 1943Funeral services were held at the Parker Clarke funeral home Tuesday, February 9 at 1:30 p.m. for Mrs. John Gorman who died at her home Sunday morning.
Reverend Paul McDade of the Ogden Methodist church officiated and Mrs. Otto Ehlers and Helen Banzhof were in charge of the singing. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery beside her parents.
Carrie Ethellene Mitchell, daughter of Charles and Amy Mitchell, of Earlham, was born near Manchester, Illinois, May 25, 1885. She passed away at her home in Ogden, on February 7, 1943, aged 57 years, eight months and 15 days.
The deceased was preceded in death by her father and mother. Her early years were spent near Earlham, where she was converted to the Christian faith to which she remained true. In 1905 she graduated from the Earlham Academy and was a resident of this community until May 1924 when she was married to John E. Gorman of Gowrie, Iowa. She was a sweet spirited woman on whom the aged and infirm were glad to rely.
She is survived by two brothers, Albert C. Mitchell of Earlham; Earl Mitchell of Indianola, Iowa; one sister Lorent Randall of Ogden; three nieces Marguerite Mitchell of Indianola; Genevieve Rater of Earlham, and Marie Plath of Ogden. Four nephews, Junior Mitchell of Earlham, Gerald Mitchell of Indianola, Wilbur Randall of Medicine Park, Oklahoma, and William Randall of Ogden, Iowa, also her husband and six step children.
Ethel was always doing for others never thinking of herself and will be sadly missed by those who were near and dear to her.
