HAZEL LYDDON, WINTERSET

Hazel Lyddon, 93, of Winterset, died March 26, 2004, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 29, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Elder Larry Pearl officiating. Burial was at Penn Center Cemetery in rural Earlham.

Hazel Lyddon was born Feb. 17, 1911, in De Soto to Charles and Nellie (Hodson) Chapman. She was a 1930 graduate of Earlham High School. On March 12, 1932, she married Raymond Wayne Lyddon in Missouri. A lifelong area resident, Hazel spent most of her life as a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist church of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Dorothy Chase and Darlene Prior.

She is survived by two sons, Marvin Lyddon of Chaska, Minn., and Richard Lyddon of Montezuma; two daughters, Darlene Shoff of Livingston, Mont., and Marilyn Day of Earlham; a brother, Harold Chapman of Johnston; a sister, Velma Plaine of Panora; and 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison County Health Trust or the Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
