On last Friday, August 7, died at his home in this city C. L Shoop, familiarly known as Lloyd Shoop, a young man well known in the community, and held in the highest esteem by every one. He was the son of Mayor P. M. Shoop, and had resided in the city for eight or nine years. Mr. Shoop was, until the past few months employed in the Citizens’ National Bank, of this city.

He had been suffering for several years with an affection of the throat, which rapidly destroyed his vitality. Although it was known for some time that he could not live long, yet his death came rather sooner than was expected, and caused a painful surprise to family, neighbors and friends.

The deceased was one of the most exemplary young men in this community, whose early death will be an irreparable shock to his parents and family. The sympathy of a host of neighbors and friends will be with them in their bereavement.

On Saturday morning the short funeral services were held at the family residence after which the remains were taken to Abingdon, Ills., the former home of the family, for interment.
