Daniel Hazen, for many years one of the best known of the citizens of the northern part of Madison county, died very suddenly a few days ago. Some years ago Mr. Hazen removed to Florida, but did not dispose of all his interests here, and he was back during the summer looking after property matters.

Mr. Hazen was born in Grand Isle county, Vt., in 1823. He removed when a boy to Franklin county, N. Y., and in 1845 to Clayton county, Iowa. In 1855 he was married at Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Miss Mary L Eggleston, a native of St. Lawrence county, N. Y. In 1865 they removed to Madison county, Iowa, and settled in Jefferson township, where they remained till their removal to Florida, a few years ago.
