Freda Mae Brittain, 58, of Winterset died of cancer Nov. 17, 1998 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Friday Nov. 20, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Pastor John Shaull officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery in Madison County.
Freda Brittain was born July 21, 1940 in Winterset to Frederic Henry and Grace Mary (Murray) Gonseth. She was a 1958 graduate of Earlham High School. She married Ronald Neal Brittain on March 1, 1959, at Earlham. A lifetime resident of Madison County, she was co-owner of Brittain's Fine Floors in Winterset. Freda was a member of the Winterset Saddle Club for 30 years, Beta Sigma Phi, Madison County Cancer Support Group and the Earlham Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband; her mother of Winterset; two daughter, Pam Wagner of Winterset and Christy Thornburg (Jerry) of Earlham; two sisters, Louise Frey of Earlham and Margaret Henkle of Hamburg; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Madison County Cancer Society or Middle River Hospice.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
