Austin Woods Dies at 90 Years

Austin N. Woods of Winterset, a Madison County resident most of his life, died last Thursday, November 30 at Memorial Hospital here. He was 90 years of age.

Mr. Woods was born in Madison County June 12, 1882, a son of George W. and Martha Whitt Woods. During his active life he engaged in farming, retiring in 1952.

He was married February 13, 1907 to Evalena Alexander. Her death occurred in 1955.

He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Winterset.

Surviving are five children, Ward Woods of Winterset, Nelson Woods of Waukee, Mrs. Mary Smith of Earlham, Albert Woods of Panama City, Florida and Harriet Garmon of Winterset. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Edith Ryner of Winterset. One daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Lon Reising. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery.
