MRS. CORWIN BEVERLIN, Longtime Peru Resident Dies

Graveside services for Mrs. Corwin J. Beverlin, 74, were held Wednesday morning, August 15, at the Peru Cemetery.

Estina Elva Beverlin was born January 1, 1899 to Arthur G. and Lillie Elizabeth (Conner) Lorimor, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was educated in the schools in Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. For a brief period after the death of her mother she lived in the home of the W. A. Forsythes, until she made her home with Darius and Agnes Hollingsworth in Peru.

Mrs, Beverlin taught her first school in Clarke County at the age of eighteen. She continued teaching in Clarke and Madison Counties for five years. She then married Corwin J. Beverlin on September 20, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union was born two sons; Jack, now of Herscher, Illinois and Max, presently of Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Beverlin have lived their entire married life in the Peru community. They celebraed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1972 with an "open house" in their home. Mrs. Beverlin was active in the Peru Methodist Church, women of the church, the Garden Club and a past member of the Eastern Star.

She had been in ill health since April of this year and was hospitalized since June 2. Mrs. Beverlin died August 13, 1973 at Villa West Nursing Home in Winterset.

A family prayer service was conducted by Rev. Paul Bousfield, minister of First United Methodist Church, Winterset, Tuesday, August 14, at Kale's Funeral Home in Truro. The graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. August 15 with burial at Peru Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, six grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
