DOROTHY MELROY, Davenport

Dorothy H. Melroy, 87, of Davenport died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at her home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 5, 1997 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.

She was born March 24, 1909, in Madison County, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Grassman) Gillespie. She married Thomas L. Melroy on Nov. 11, 1932 in Keokuk. He died Nov. 7, 1990.

She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport, and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Paul; Ladies of the Moose; and Davenport Policeman's Auxiliary; and a former member of the auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus 532.

She was preceded ind death by her parents; a sister, Marie White; and a brother, Francis Gillespie.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dona and Rudolph Segura, Rock Island; Rosalie and David Waight of Monticello and Karen and Michael Carr, Grapevine, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Francis Patrick Melroy and Mike and Linda Melroy, all of Davenport; John Melroy of Maquoketa; and Gregory and Dana Melroy of Wenatchee, Wash.; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Wright, Davenport; and brothers, Leo Gillespie of Winterset and John Gillespie of Lancaster, Calif.
