Mrs. Eben Hays of Winterset, a well-known resident of this community for many years, died Friday, Nov. 10, 1967, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 62 years of age, and had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Hays and her husband had owned and operated the Iowa theater in Winterset for many years, but had been retired recently.
She was the former Grace Moore, daughter of Asa L. and Isabell McQuie Moore. She was born in Madison County July 3, 1905. She was married here in 1928 to Eben Hays. They moved to Memphis, Mo., in 1936, where they engaged in the theater business until 1945, when they returned to this community and purchased the Iowa theater. They spent more than 30 years in the theater business.
She was a member of the Early Chapel Christian church.
Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. Clara Mapes of Winterset; and a brother, Bruce Moore of Earlham.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
