Esther Leona Farwell, 97, of Winterset died Wed., Aug. 1, 2001 of a heart ailment at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be August 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Winterset with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. The Rev. Bill Branson will officiate with burial following at the Greenfield Cemetery.

She was born March 31, 1924 in Adair County to Calvin and Cora Ellen (Marshall) Duff. She married Allen LeRoy Farwell on August 27, 1922 in Creston. She was a homemaker and a resident of Winterset for 44 years. She was a member of Rebecca-Royle Neighbors and the first Baptist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, one great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter.

Surviving relatives include one son Raymond Farwell of Creston; four daughters Inez Bennett and husband Charles of Lorimor, Dorothy Endres and Charlotte Forsythe and husband Keith Farlow, all of Winterset; LaVaun Wright and husband Bob Beaman of Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Isobel Duff of Winterset and Helen Duff of Perry; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
