Clara Erma Garland of rural Winterset died Friday, April 24 at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.
Born October 5, 1891, in Adair County, she was the daughter of George and Minnie Proctor Frederick.
On April 8, 1909 she married Herb Garland who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1966. A member of the Methodist church, she also belonged to the Sunshine Garden Club.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Garland was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include Thelma Jackson of Winterset, two brothers, George B. Frederick of Winterset and Paul D. Frederick of Greencastle, Ind., and four sisters, Nora Murphy of Van Meter, Jessie Young, Maud Smith and Gertrude Dalen, all of Earlham.
Rev. Scott Grotewold officiated at the services held Monday afternoon, April 27, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
