Clem Mitchell, Winterset

Clem D. Mitchell, 85, of Winterset, died March 5, 1994 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held March 8, 1994 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating the services.

Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 13, 1909 to William F. and Carrie (Fleming) Mitchell. He was married to Vera Lettia Hardisty on May 2, 1931 over the air at Henry Field's Radio Station in Shenandoah by Rev. James Pearson. He was a retired farmer and livestock buyer spending the last 50 years in Madison County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers; and one sister.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Maurice Mitchell Sr., and wife Phyllis of Des Moines, and Bill Mitchell and wife Sharon of Winterset; two daughters, Lorraine Kile and husband Wayne of Winterset, and Marilyn Fairholm and husband Marvin of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the activity fund at the Community Care Center in Winterset.
