Winterset Madisonian, Friday, January 30, 1891, Pg 3
Winterset, IowaFrom the Afton Reporter we learn of the death from typhoid fever in that town on the 22d inst., of Miss Ethel Cherry, a niece of the late Dr. S. B Cherry, of this city. The Reporter says; this death has cast a gloom over the entire community. Hers was a bright, sunny, happy disposition. She has lived here since birth--the sunlight of that home so darkened now; and those who loved her. No recent death has so affected the community at large, and the tears flow and the voice trembles as one speaks of this flower of promise, this beautiful earthly plant now placed at the throne of God.
(Note: Dr. S.B. Cherry, known as Dr. Samuel B. Cherry, a doctor in Madison County, and a Civil War veteran.)
