Page 3Marson Reed Sheldon was born in Rupert, Vermont, July 27, 1828. He came to Iowa in 1868, living in Winterset for the past fourteen years.
He was united in marriage to Christina C. Van Hoesen Oct. 24, 1866, who preceded him to the better land in 1890. To this union five children were born. Myron A., Delia, Chas. E., Flora, and Lulu, all of whom are living.
He served three years in the civil war, being a member of the 2nd Illinois Cavalry.
He united with the Methodist church in early manhood living a consistent Christian life until death came on Monday, Aug. 15, 1910.
The funeral services were held from the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Walburn and interment was made in the Rock City cemetery.

M. R. Sheldon died about three a. m., Monday after an illness of only a few days. While his health had not been good for several months past, he was able to be about as usual until a day or two before his death. He was taken violently ill on Monday morning, a physician was summoned but he passed away before the physician arrived.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon and burial In the Winterset cemetery.
Mr. Sheldon was one of the earlier settlers of this county, living in Monroe township for many years before moving to Winterset. Obituary notice will appear in these columns next week.

Marson Reed Shedon was born in Rupert, Vermont, Juy 27, 1838. He acme to Iowa in 1868 living in Winterset the past 14 years. He was united in marriage to Christina C. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church August 17th, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. A. Walburn, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery.
