Alvin B. Gentry, Winterset

Services for Alvin B. Gentry, 83, a lifelong resident of Madison County who died Feb. 20 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held this morning, Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial will be at the Union Chapel Cemetery.

Born in Madison County Dec. 28, 1899, he was the son of Byron and Delila Ellen Landers Gentry. He married Zola Bruett July 30, 1924 in Winterset and spent most of his lifetime in farming. He retired in 1974 and been a resident of the Bethesda Care Center.

Mr. Gentry was a past president of the Madison County Angus Association.

Survivors include a son, Wayne of Council Bluffs; daughters, Lorraine Lowden of St. Charles and Ardith Thrailkill of Earlham; a sister, Maybel DeBok of Winterset; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter, a grandson, a great-grandson, and a sister.
