RAy Dunbar Died Sunday

Ray Dunbar of Winterset, a Madison county resident most of his life, died Sunday, April 2, at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 82 years of age.

Clarence Ray Dunbar was born at Winterset, Jan. 16, 1890, a son of Frank N. and Ella L. Alexander Dunbar. Through his life-time he worked as a shoe repairman. He started in the present Thompson-Toppenberg Shoe store in 1929, working there until 1960. After that he was self employed until his retirement in 1970.

He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Winterset, and was affiliated with the I.O.O.F. and Royal Neighbor lodges.

Mr. Dunbar was married Oct. 27, 1917, at Minneapolis, Minn., to Mabel Garner, who survives him.

He also leaves three sons, Clarence L. Dunbar of Ankeny, and William G. Dunbar and Gerald R. Dunbar, both of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home here, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
