Grace Gonseth, Sidney

Grace May Gonseth, 92, died March 25, 2003, at the Sidney Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, at the Earlham Church of Christ with Steve Allison and Neal Hanley officating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Grace Gonseth was born Aug. 31, 1910, to William and Mary Bell (Puett) Murray of rural Neosho, Mo. On June 9, 1930, she married Fred Gonseth in Neosho. Early in their marriage, they farmed in the Murray, Osceola and Winterset areas. In 1945, they moved to the Earlham area where they farmed until 1974. She and her husband moved into the town of Earlham in 1970. For the past five and one-half years, she had resided in a nursing home in Winterset and then Sidney. Grace was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ, Rebekah Lodge, Earlham Garden Club and Earlham Quilting Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Freda Brittain; a granddaughter, Pam; three brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise Frey of Earlham and Margaret Henkle of Sidney; three sisters, Agnes, Gladys and Mary Louise; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
