MRS. ROBERET BAUR Died Wednesday

Mrs. Robert Baur, member of a prominent Madison County family, died last Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1954, at her home in Winterset, after an illness of about a month. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Baur had returned to her home Sept. 1, after three weeks as a patient at the Madison County Memorial hospital. She suffered a relapse after returning home.

Mrs. Baur was the former Hettie L. McBride, daughter of Malcolm and Eleanor Hazen McBride.

She was born in Jefferson township, April 25, 1874, and nearly all her life was spent in that township; the old McBride postoffice and the McBride covered bridge carry the name of this early family.

She was married to Robert Baur on March 19, 1895. They spent 50 years on a farm in Jefferson township before retiring and moving into Winterset 10 years ago.

Mrs. Baur was an active member of the United Brethren church of Jefferson township over a long period of years. After moving to Winterset she attended the Presbyterian church, joining the Westminster Sunday school class. She was a member of the Kensington club and a charter member of the Madison county Antique association.

She is survived by her husband; four children, Mrs. R. J. Smith of Winterset, Edward and Merritt Baur of Jefferson township, and Mrs. Eleanor C. Halderman of Topeka, Kan., who is woman's editor for a national farm magazine. She also leaves eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. George D. Fisher, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery.
