Funeral services for Mrs. Zella Leland, a native of Madison County, were held Monday morning, May 8, 1978, from the Lindhart Funeral home in Humboldt, Iowa.
Burial was Monday at 4 p.m. in the Peru Cemetery.
Mrs. Leland died May 5th at the North Care Center in Humboldt at the age of 80.
The daughter of John and Cora Hart Krell, she was born in Madison County on June 28, 1897. She graduated from Winterset high school and attended Drake University.
On July 30, 1922, she was married at Winterset to Clyde Shearer. They lived in Peru for a number of years where Mr. Shearer and his brother, Claude, operated a general store. Clyde Shearer died in 1949.
On June 29, 1954, she was married at Indianola to Cecil Leland. They made their home in Humboldt where Mr. Leland was an insurance agent.
Surviving are her husband, Cecil; one son, Dr. S. K. Shearer of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Henery of Des Moines, Mrs. DeVern Dixson of Indianola and Mrs. Loren Shaw of Indianola; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
