Wednesday, July 9, 1980, page 2Dallas E. Crabbs of 502 N. First St. died Sunday, July 6, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 67. He had lived in Madison County for over 40 years.
Born Jan. 30, 1913, at Guthrie Center, he was the son of Roy and Isaleta Rooker Crabbs. He was united in marriage to Marie Welch on Nov. 28, 1943, in Winterset. His wife survives him.
Mr. Crabbs farmed northeast of Patterson for several years and moved to Winterset in 1963. He was employed as a warehouseman for Farm Service until his retirement in 1978. An army veteran of World War II, in which he was awarded the Bronze Star, Mr. Crabbs was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Also surviving are two daughter, Mary Ann Orr of Winterset and Marilyn McGaffin of Spencer; six grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Cole of Phoenix, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three infant sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Paul Hann and Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating.
Military graveside services were held at the Winterset cemetery.
