Silliman Rites Here Tuesday

Alonzo (Lonnie) Silliman of Winterset died Nov. 23 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was 79 years of age.

A son of Charles Dixon and Mary Moore Silliman, he was born in Madison County on Dec. 4. 1898.

He was married to Myrtle Lorentz on Feb. 16, 1927 at Des Moines. Mr. Silliman retired from farming in 1964.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert of Lorimor, Roger of Tampa, Florida and Ronald of Carlisle, Iowa; five daughters, Mae Newton of Des Moines, Jo Bell of Omaha, Lois Rieckhoff of Bettendorf, Marge Gale of Keswick, Iowa and Phyllis Crandall of Thermopolis, Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Rennie Arthur and Walter; and by three sisters, Pearl, Aletha and Aleta.

Funeral services for Mr. Silliman were held Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Winterset. Rev. Byron Ayers officiated.

Burial was in the Peru cemetery.
