Mrs. Erwin M. Howell died at her home in Winterset Thursday, Nov. 9, 1967. Although she had been ill a few days, her death came unexpectedly. She was 71 years of age.
Mrs. Howell had been a Madison county resident for 58 years. She was the former Vida Marie Hastie, daughter of Frank B. and Emily Cain Hastie. She was born in Warren county Jan. 27, 1896. She was married to Erwin M. Howell on Oct. 17, 1915. They were long-time residents of Crawford township in this county.
She was a member of the Patterson Methodist church and of the W.S.C.S. of that church.
Surviving are her husband; her mother, Mrs. Frank Hastie of Earlham; three daughters, Mrs. William E. Richards of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Dan Minnick of Ordway, Colo., and Mrs. Jack Jackson of Winterset; a son, E. Nelson Howell of Patterson; 10 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Weesner of Dexter and Mrs. Ruby Joseph of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Patterson Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. James Louk. Burial was made at Montpelier cemetery near Patterson.
