Robert L. Powers

Services for Robert L. Powers, 64, Winterset, who died at his residence January 3, were held on Fri., Jan 5, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Winterset on April 11, 1925, he was the son of Lawrence and Zella King Powers. He was married to Helen Kirk on January 16, 1953 at Winterset.

A lifetime resident, Mr. Powers was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Winterset and a World War II Navy veteran. He was semi-retired and had worked for Montross Pharmacy.

Mr. Powers was formerly at the John Deere store in Indianola with his father and also worked at the John Deere store in Winterset and the Watts Oil Co., and the Winterset schools, He was a former owner of a Coast-to-Coast store.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Steven of Winterset; a brother, Maurice of Winterset; sisters, Mildred Powers and Maxine Burns, both of Indianola; and two grandchildren.
