PHYLLIS H. PACE, Winterset

Phyllis H. Pace, 81, of Winterset died of an aortic aneurysm June 13, 1999, at her home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Patterson United Methodist Church with the Rev Donald Frank officiating. Burial of the cremains will take place at a private ceremony in Montpelier Cemetey near Patterson. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset.

Phyllis Pace was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Madison County to J. Irvin and Jennie Matilda (Sevens) Wildin. She married Glen "Sammy" Pace on Sept. 11, 1938.

She and her husband owned and operated Pace Grocery for 23 years. Later, she was a secretary for the Winterset School District, serving at Patterson, Scott Center and Winterset. Phyllis was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Retired School Personnel Association, Lakeview Country Club, Farm Bureau, Madison County Historical Society and Jolly Dozen. She also was active in 4-H as a leader and was secretary of the Patterson United Methodist Church Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by two sisters, Zelda Buck of Glendale, Calif., and Gertrude Hudson of Winterset; three brothers, Darrell Wildin (wife Shirley) of Winterset, Clarence Wildin of St. Charles and Ed Wildin of Winterset; a special friend, Paul Griffith of Winterset; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
