Dorothy Lee Graham, 92, of Winterset died July 1, 2001, of congestive heart failure at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, at the First Christian Church in Winterset.

Dorothy Graham was born Dec. 18, 1908, near Rockport, Miss., to Luther M. and Sallie B. Little. She earned a bachelor's degree with majors in business and education. She received her master's degree in education from the University of Houston. She had taught in the public schools in Texas and Mississippi and also had been employed by the Mississippi Department of Education. She married James A. Graham of Madison County on May 9, 1946, in St. Louis. Following the couple's move to Lakewood, Iowa, in 1968, Dorothy founded the weekly Lakewood-Norwalk News. She published the paper, later named North Warren Town and County News, from 1968 to 1978, and again from 1983 to 1996. She also was a founder of the original Norwalk Business and Professional Association and taught adult business education classes in Norwalk. In 1992, she was named Business Leader of the Year by the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce. A member of the Norwalk Christian Church, Madison County Democratic Women and the Current Topic Club and First Christian Church, both in Winterset, she had lived in Madison County during 1979-83 and from 1991 until her death.

She is survived by a daughter, Marianne Fons-Davis of Winterset; two sons, Jim Graham of El Paso, Texas, and David Graham of Melbourne, Fla.; two brothers, Larry Little of Florida and Hal Little of Mississippi; a sister, Ruth Kelly of Mississippi; and five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
